FCC Receives Comments on Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Notice of Inquiry Assessing Radiofrequency Exposure Standards and Policies
Comments were due September 3, 2013 on the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC or Commission) Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) and Notice of Inquiry (NOI) assessing radiofrequency (RF) exposure standards and policies, released March 29, 2013. The FCC received a large volume of comments responding to its item. The comments discuss the adequacy of the FCC's current RF exposure limits for mobile communications devices and other devices with RF transmitters for consumer use, research developments since the FCC's last rulemaking on these issues, and issues related to RF exposure in occupational settings. The comments also debate the need for and utility of consumer disclosures on RF exposure and the Commission's proposals with respect to its testing and compliance regime.
Reply comments are due November 1, 2013.
