Robert Walker Discusses Ongoing Congressional Ethics Investigations
Wiley Rein Election Law attorney Robert L. Walker weighed in on the unresolved congressional ethics investigations of former Representatives Eric Massa (D-NY) and Maxine Waters (D-CA). Both investigations have been ongoing for more than a year, but the House Ethics Committee—which is not fully staffed and has been undergoing a reorganization—has not yet issued final reports of its findings, leading critics to say that the panel is inefficient.
“It’s probably getting around time to where we ought to be expecting them to make some decisions on these matters,” Walker told The Hill. “But to take the position that they are woefully behind on them doesn’t take into account these structural obstacles that they’ve faced. That’s not a reason why they shouldn’t be moving on anything. But to say that they’re stagnant is probably not true.”
