Caleb Burns Weighs In On Importance of Blue-Collar Voters in Pennsylvania
Caleb P. Burns, a partner in Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was quoted in separate articles published on FoxNews.com about the critical fight for blue-collar voters by both presidential candidates in Pennsylvania.
According to the article, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s base has been working-class workers, however, that is a segment of the population that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton received strong support from during her 2008 Democratic primary campaign.
“This is consistent with [Mr. Trump’s] strategy of doing well in Rust Belt states, or at least well enough to cover the purple states that will almost certainly go blue, considering the kind of campaign he’s running,” Mr. Burns said. “It will be interesting to see if Clinton can hold off Trump in the Rust Belt by going back to the blue-collar vote. If she can, it will be extremely difficult for Trump to find a path to victory.”
