Communications Daily Cites Kathleen Scott’s Blog Post on Expected NIST IoT Guidance
Kathleen E. Scott, associate in Wiley Rein’s Telecom, Media & Technology and Privacy & Cybersecurity practices, authored a blog post cited in the October 30 issue of Communications Daily on anticipated cybersecurity guidance on the Internet of Things (IoT) from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In the post, Ms. Scott discusses NIST’s plans to issue guidance for federal agencies regarding high-level cybersecurity and privacy IoT risk. This update follows a NIST Colloquium last month that brought together the private sector, government, and academia to discuss security approaches. It’s “clear that the debate regarding IoT cyber standards is still nascent and that NIST is still working to define the scope of IoT,” Ms. Scott said, as noted by Communications Daily. NIST indicated that the current 200-page draft of IoT guidelines could be released publicly in early 2018, Ms. Scott added.
