Kevin Muhlendorf Discusses Impact of Work as a Former Federal Prosecutor

Washington Lawyer
October 5, 2016

Kevin B. Muhlendorf, a partner in Wiley Rein’s White Collar Defense & Government Investigations Practice, was featured in a “Partners’ Perspective” in the October 2016 issue of Washington Lawyer, discussing the impact of his work as a former federal prosecutor.

Mr. Muhlendorf, who joined Wiley Rein earlier this year, is a former Assistant Chief for the Securities and Financial Fraud Unit in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Fraud Section and a former Securities and Exchange Commission Enforcement Division attorney.

In his profile, Mr. Muhlendorf commented, “Working as a defense lawyer, you quickly discover the collateral consequences of government investigations and realize how much power you had as a prosecutor. Even folks who have no real civil or criminal exposure are worried about their reputations and even their livelihoods. In my work I think a lot about what I would’ve done as a prosecutor and anticipate similar moves when I’m defending a client.”
