Megan Brown Discusses Rod Rosenstein’s Respect for the Law Following Dismissal of FBI Director James Comey

May 11, 2017

Wiley Rein partner Megan L. Brown was quoted in a May 10 Law360 article focusing on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and his role in the dismissal of FBI Director James Comey. The complexity of the issues and the timing of the dismissal were discussed in the article. Ms. Brown, who has known Mr. Rosenstein for more than 15 years – having worked with him at the U.S. Department of Justice and in the Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office – said he would not have signed the memo criticizing Mr. Comey’s handling of the probe into Hillary Clinton’s private email server unless it was in keeping with the law.

“Rod has the utmost integrity and respect for the rule of law and our institutions, including the FBI, DOJ, and the office of the presidency,” Ms. Brown said. “He would not sign a memo to the Attorney General or the President that he did not believe in.”

Ms. Brown is a member of Wiley Rein’s Appellate, Litigation, Privacy & Cybersecurity, and Telecom, Media & Technology practices.
