Robert Walker Comments on Recent Public Focus on Senate Ethics Panel
Robert L. Walker, of counsel in Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was quoted by The Wall Street Journal in a November 17 article about the increasingly high-profile role of the Senate Ethics Committee. The recent public spotlight on this panel’s activities follows Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s calls for ethics investigations of two current senators and one candidate running for Senate in an upcoming special election.
If the investigations proceed, they will create a demanding workload, said Mr. Walker, a former chief counsel and staff director for the panel.
“It would be a high caseload of potentially high-profile matters,” he said. “There will be a lot of pressure on the committee, assuming that all of these matters actually result in investigations in the near period of time.”
