Chambers USA Ranks Wiley Rein's Franchise Practice Among Nation’s Best; Robert A. Smith Named a “Leading Lawyer”

May 29, 2013

Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business rates Wiley Rein’s Franchise Practice once again as one of the best in the country and ranks Group chair Robert A. Smith as a “Leading Lawyer” in his field.

The practice is highlighted in the directory for its transactional work assisting a quick-service restaurant’s expansion in Asia, South America and Europe.  Also spotlighted is the firm’s representation of a frozen yogurt company during a franchisee dispute concerning system changes and termination.  Other clients include quick-casual pasta and pizza eateries.

Mr.  Smith’s range of knowledge is recognized by Chambers, which notes the practice chair advises clients on matters such as drafting contracts, disclosure documents and facilitating the purchase or sale of systems. Mr. Smith represents franchisors, licensors and investors domestically and internationally in connection with all legal issues that arise in franchised and licensed networks.

The Chambers ratings are based on extensive interviews of law firms’ clients, colleagues and competitors.  Inclusion in the directory is determined through a rigorous vetting process.
