Wiley Rein’s Media Practice Remains in Chambers USA's Top Tier for Fifth Consecutive Year

May 31, 2013

For the fifth straight year, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business ranks Wiley Rein’s Media Practice in the top tier for regulatory matters in Washington, DC and names Chairman Richard E. Wiley and Media Group co-chair Kathleen A. Kirby as “Leading Lawyers” in their field.

Calling Wiley Rein “a leading light for regulatory work,” Chambers says “this undisputed area of strength” is complemented by the firm’s “broad interdisciplinary approach to media law.” The publication notes that the firm represents radio and television broadcasters in matters ranging from regulatory compliance and online privacy issues to retransmission consent agreements. A source tells Chambers: “We are very impressed and very pleased. The work has been wonderful. I can't imagine doing our work without their counsel.”

The publication says Mr. Wiley “represents a host of top clients” and is “noted for his wealth of experience concerning regulatory issues,” having previously served as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Ms. Kirby “comes recommended for her work on First Amendment and FCC matters.” Clients tell Chambers they appreciate her responsiveness and proactive approach as well as her “ability to stay on top” of a situation.

The Chambers ratings are based on extensive interviews of law firms' clients, colleagues and competitors. Inclusion in the directory is determined through a rigorous vetting process.
