Wiley Rein’s Megan Brown Appointed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to Judicial Nominating Commission

Wiley Rein partner Megan L. Brown has been appointed by Maryland Governor Larry J. Hogan, Jr., to serve on the Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission for Montgomery County.

Ms. Brown is among nine gubernatorial appointees to the 13-member commission and will serve her term through January 15, 2019. The commission is tasked with making recommendations to the governor for qualified candidates to fill vacancies on trial courts in Montgomery County.

A member of Wiley Rein’s Litigation, Appellate, Telecom, Media & Technology, and Cybersecurity practices, Ms. Brown has significant experience before state and federal courts and agencies. She represents corporations and industries in complex litigation and regulatory proceedings and develops compliance strategies under a variety of statutes, including the federal Communications Act, as well as the U.S. Constitution. She litigates from the trial level through the Supreme Court of the United States, including preliminary relief, fact and expert discovery, motions for summary judgment, and appellate briefing.

In addition to her private sector experience, Ms. Brown previously clerked for the Honorable E. Grady Jolly of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and served in the U.S. Department of Justice as counsel to Attorneys General Michael B. Mukasey and Alberto R. Gonzales.

Ms. Brown also serves as the chair of Wiley Rein’s Recruiting Committee, and was named a “Rising Star” by Law360 last year for her outstanding work on behalf of clients in the technology sector.
