David Weinberg Quoted in Article Focusing on the EPA's Regulation of Chemicals

David Weinberg, chair of Wiley Rein’s Environment & Safety Practice, was quoted in a Law360 article commenting on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) renewed use of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) to regulate potentially harmful chemicals. The TSCA is a 35 year-old law that has never been amended and has been criticized for failing to give the EPA the necessary authority to request information on chemicals or to challenge their safety. In the past, the agency has asked chemical companies to volunteer the relevant information. “They have to work within certain statutory authorities…but they are still proposing things that have potentially huge impacts on not just the chemical industry, but all companies that use chemicals,” Mr. Weinberg explained.
