Wiley Rein's Michael Toner Represents Ethanol Producer in Successful FEC Advisory Opinion
Wiley Rein Election Law & Government Ethics Practice co-chair Michael Toner, was mentioned in a recent article regarding the Federal Election Commission (FEC) approval of a fundraising initiative for POET, LLC, an ethanol producer. The FEC unanimously approved to allow the company to raise campaign funds directly from corn farmers in Iowa and other Midwestern states. The company’s political action committee, POET PAC, plans to setup a program called the “POET PAC Cultivator Club” to help farmers contribute to the company’s campaign by deducting a portion of the money that the POET plants owe per bushel of corn. Mr. Toner represented POET in the advisory opinion.
