Election Law Co-Chair Talks to Politico about Representing Presidential Campaigns
Michael Toner, co-chair of the Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, was quoted in a July 9 Politico article about presidential campaigns and the attorneys who provide them with counsel. As the article reports, Mr. Toner, who is described as a ... “star in the GOP campaign bar,” utilized an innovative strategy on behalf of his client Tim Pawlenty to help raise funds for his campaign and also represents the Republican National Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. The publication also notes that Wiley Rein is counsel to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “Representing a presidential campaign that wins the primary—and certainly one that wins the general election—is a unique opportunity for any law firm to enhance its standing in the election law field,” said Mr. Toner. “It’s often hard to predict the impact, but it can generate a lot of derivative work.”
