Alan Price Comments on U.S. Complaint to WTO Claiming Chinese Aluminum Subsidies Harm Domestic Industries

Alan H. Price, partner and chair of Wiley Rein’s International Trade Practice, was quoted in a January 17 Platts Metals Daily article regarding a complaint filed by the U.S. Government at the WTO alleging that China has illegally subsidized its aluminum industry for years.  Trade experts believe this complaint could signify a new approach to addressing the U.S. trade imbalance with China.

"This is a groundbreaking challenge taking on the core tools used by China to build and maintain excess capacity," Mr. Price said. "Dumping and countervailing duty cases focus on the symptoms while this case takes on the root cause of the problem."
