Tessa Capeloto Weighs In on Recent Increase in FARA Enforcement

The National Law Journal
October 1, 2018

Tessa Capeloto, of counsel in Wiley Rein’s International Trade Practice and co-author of the firm’s Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) Handbook, weighed in with The National Law Journal (NLJ) regarding the recent increase in FARA-related enforcement by the U.S Department of Justice. The September 27 article noted that Ms. Capeloto is among the leading FARA attorneys in Washington.

According to the article, activities related to FARA gained traction following the indictment last fall of President Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Ms. Capeloto predicted that in the years ahead, attorneys will continue to see a significant demand for FARA-related work beyond regulatory compliance, because FARA violations can result in civil and criminal penalties.
