Tim Brightbill Discusses WTO Conference in Nairobi
Timothy C. Brightbill, a partner in Wiley Rein’s International Trade Practice, was quoted in a Bloomberg BNA article published December 11 about the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) ministerial conference that starts today in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to the article, the WTO has been slow to execute its Doha Development Agenda, which has raised doubts among members of the U.S. trade industry that there will be meaningful agreements to come out of the ministerial conference.
“Key players like China, India and Brazil do not appear to be interested in lowering their tariffs and trade barriers,” Mr. Brightbill said to Bloomberg BNA. “It is hard for U.S. companies and industries to support the process in Nairobi if our trading partners aren’t willing to commit to progress in these priority areas.”
