Megan Brown Named to Inaugural Visiting Fellow Class at National Security Institute at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School

Washington, DC — Megan L. Brown, partner in Wiley Rein’s Telecom, Media & Technology and Privacy & Cybersecurity practices, was named to the inaugural class of Visiting Fellows at the National Security Institute (NSI) at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School. The class, announced yesterday by NSI, includes more than 30 experts representing decades of combined experience and service in federal counterterrorism, defense, and intelligence agencies and private sector ventures.

Ms. Brown – who represents clients in matters at the intersection of innovation and regulation – litigates, responds to government investigations, shapes policy, and develops compliance strategy under federal law, state consumer protection law, cybersecurity expectations, and international regimes. Experienced in wireless deployment and the Internet of Things (IoT), she practices before numerous federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Ms. Brown serves on the Board of the Women’s High-Tech Coalition and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Cybersecurity Leadership Council, and also co-chairs the Federal Communications Bar Association’s Privacy and Data Security Committee.

NSI is a platform for research, teaching, scholarship, and policy development that incorporates a realistic assessment of the threats facing the United States and its allies. The Institute’s national security practitioners and industry leaders draw on diverse experiences from the intelligence community, government, private sector, and academia. Through policy papers, panel discussions, and other scholarship, NSI fellows will contribute to a crucial discussion of the legal and practical challenges facing the U.S. intelligence, defense, law enforcement, homeland security, and cybersecurity communities.
