WRF Represented Domestic Industries on 50% of All Antidumping and Countervailing Duty Cases Initiated through November 2005

Washington, DC—In 2005, Wiley Rein & Fielding's International Trade Group demonstrated why it is recognized as one of the nation's leading practices, accounting for half of the 10 antidumping cases initiated with the U.S. Department of Commerce as of late November.  As reported by the Progressive Policy Institute, WRF filed cases against dumped imports from China and Korea on behalf of the Diamond Sawblades Manufacturers Coalition and against dumped and/or subsidized imports from China, India and Indonesia, on behalf of the Association of American School Paper Suppliers. 

These and other trade filings during the last year reflect the diverse industries represented by Wiley Rein & Fielding's International Trade Practice Group.  During the course of the year, WRF won important victories for domestic manufacturers of large newspaper printing presses, hot-rolled steel, heavy forged hand tools, steel plate and domestic users of steel scrap.  For example, in a significant victory in this legal arena, in response to Nucor Corporation's filings, the International Trade Commission voted to continue for five additional years antidumping and countervailing duty orders against certain hot-rolled steel imports from Russia, Brazil and Japan.
