Richard E. Wiley to Be Inducted into the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame

Wiley Rein Managing Partner and former Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Richard E. Wiley has been selected for induction into The Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame, an honor that recognizes his “pivotal role in the development of HDTV, serving as Chairman of the FCC’s Advisory Committee on Advanced Television Service for nine years.”  The award will be presented during The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)^® Industry Forum to be held in Phoenix, Arizona October 18-21, 2009.

The CE Hall of Fame includes inventors, executives, engineers, retailers and journalists who are selected by an independent panel of industry judges.  In announcing the 2009 class of inductees—which also includes industry notables Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc. and Dr. Irwin Jacobs, co-founder of Qualcomm—Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA, noted that through their efforts to improve the lifestyles of consumers all over the world, “These individuals have contributed enormously to the growth of the consumer electronics industry. They are truly deserving of this honor.”
