Treasury Department Official and CFIUS and Trade Expert Joins Wiley Rein's International Trade Practice

June 1, 2009

Wiley Rein LLP is pleased to announce the addition of former Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary Nova J. Daly as a Public Policy Consultant in its growing International Trade Practice. An international investment and trade policy expert, while at Treasury's Office of International Affairs, Mr. Daly played a leading role in reforming the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). At Wiley Rein he joins a team that has been internationally recognized for its extensive experience in this area.

Managing Partner Richard E. Wiley said, "We are delighted to welcome Nova to the firm. He has a wealth of CFIUS experience that enhances and complements that of our top-notch team."

Mr. Daly brings to Wiley Rein almost a decade of experience as a high-level trade and investment advisor to the federal government. Prior to his role at the Treasury Department, his service includes terms as the National Security Council's Director for International Trade (2004-2006); a trade policy advisor to the Secretary of Commerce (2003-2004); and an international trade advisor at the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance (2002-2003).

John B. Reynolds III, head of Wiley Rein's CFIUS practice, commented, "Nova is a first-rate addition to our group. His hands-on experience in the management, development and implementation of U.S. economic and national security policies and programs will benefit our clients with transactions before CFIUS. He has participated in the most sensitive investment cases and been instrumental in drafting the new regulations under which CFIUS operates."

Mr. Daly received a M.A. from American University's School of International Service and a B.A. from the University of California at Irvine. After June 15, he can be reached at 202.719.3282 or ndaly@wiley.law.
