Thomas Brunner Named to International Association of Women Judges' Board of Managerial Trustees

January 9, 2012

Thomas W. Brunner has been selected to serve on the Board of Managerial Trustees of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ), a nonprofit, non-partisan organization comprised of more than 4,000 members from more than 100 nations.

Since its founding in 1991, IAWJ has brought together women judges from diverse judicial systems to share knowledge on topics relating to equal justice, the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. IAWJ encourages women to consider careers in law and the judiciary, and encourages governments to select and promote women as judges. IAWJ also works with its national associations to develop and implement training and educational programs on issues concerning discrimination and violence against women.

Mr. Brunner, chairman emeritus of Wiley Rein's Insurance Practice, has counseled insurance industry clients for more than 30 years. Named by Legal Times as a "Leading Insurance Lawyer," Mr. Brunner was founding counsel for several industry groups, including Complex Insurance Claims Litigation Association. He currently serves as general counsel for LeapFrog Investments, a social investment fund supporting microinsurance projects for low-income individuals in developing countries.
