The Legal 500 US Rates Wiley Rein's Copyright Practice Among Nation's Best for Second Straight Year

June 1, 2012

The 2012 edition of The Legal 500 US includes Wiley Rein's Copyright Group in its rankings of the nation's top practices and recognizes the work of practice chair Bruce G. Joseph and partners Andrew G. McBride and David E. Weslow.  A directory source says the group provides "a hard-to-find combination of technical knowledge and practical legal advice."

The publication describes the team as possessing a "strong focus on issues regarding digital technology and the Internet, with experience representing both traditional copyright owners and new media and technology companies," including one source that says the lawyers are "leaders in the music licensing space."

Mr. Joseph is commended as "one of the premier copyright lawyers in the USA."  The directory highlights the work of Mr. Joseph and Mr. McBride for Verizon Wireless and Ericsson involving ASCAP music license fees payable by wireless services.  The Legal 500 US also spotlights successful work for T-Mobile USA in a multi-defendant copyright infringement lawsuit brought by Luvdarts, a multi-media messaging content company.

The publication points to the arrival of Mr. Weslow, who focuses his practice on matters relating to online and emerging technology, as a notable addition.

The Legal 500 US directory aims to provide independent, unbiased commentary on the leading law firms and lawyers in the most important legal marketplaces in the world. The research for the editorial sections is based on the combined opinions of the many lawyers interviewed, commentary from corporate clients and analysis of deals and contentious issues.
