The Legal 500 US Ranks Wiley Rein's Telecommunications Group in the Top Tier for the Sixth Consecutive Year

June 6, 2012

In its 2012 edition, The Legal 500 US rates Wiley Rein's prominent Telecommunications Practice-widely regarded as one of  the country's best-in its top tier for the sixth consecutive year.  The legal directory once again names Firm Chairman Richard E. Wiley and Telecom Practice chair R. Michael Senkowski as Leading Lawyers in their field, and, reflecting the group's depth of talent, recognizes partners Megan L. Brown, William S. Consovoy, Christopher S. Huther, Elbert Lin, Andrew G. McBride, Joshua S. Turner, Nancy J. Victory and Helgi C. Walker.

Ranking the practice among the nation's best for its regulatory and appellate work, litigation and involvement in big-ticket transactions, The Legal 500 US notes:

"The integration of regulatory and public policy is a key differentiator, along with an unmatched level of resources. The team, which includes a blend of attorneys with FCC backgrounds and young talent, is 'one of the very finest' and appreciated for 'providing excellent strategic guidance.' The firm represents major mobile providers, industry trade associations, satellite companies, technology manufacturers and broadcast networks who appreciate lawyers' in-depth experience of FCC dealings and ancillary litigation and appellate expertise. The team has consistently won mandates as regulatory counsel on high-profile mergers."

The "universally respected" Richard Wiley, the "'knowledgeable, well-connected'" Michael Senkowski and Wireless chair Nancy Victory are recognized for their work as FCC counsel to Deutsche Telekom on 2011's largest telecommunications deal.  Helgi Walker and William Consovoy receive mention for their high-profile appellate and litigation work, including representation of Verizon in its challenge to the FCC's network neutrality order.  Andrew McBride, Joshua Turner and Megan Brown receive praise for representing CTIA - The Wireless Association in its challenge of San Francisco's radiofrequency labeling requirement for cell phones.  And the directory notes that recent arrival Christopher Huther and returning partner Elbert Lin add further strength to the team.
