Wiley Rein Secures Pro Bono Success for Client in Child Custody Case

April 23, 2013

Wiley Rein attorneys Samantha S. Lee and Christen M. Price recently secured a pro bono success on behalf of their client in a child custody case.

Ms. Lee and Ms. Price represented the client, a single mother who lost custody of her two young children to their grandmother following an arrest on charges that were questionable and later dropped. At the time that Wiley Rein took the case—through the DC Bar Pro Bono Clinic—both sides were preparing for a full custody hearing with discovery, witnesses and a trial.

While the client was able to resolve the other legal issues facing her, Ms. Lee and Ms. Price made numerous court filings, guided the client through a status hearing, home study visit and other issues, and successfully negotiated a return of the children to their mother. On April 22, the D.C. Superior Court granted their client permanent legal and physical custody of her children.

Wiley Rein partner Timothy C. Brightbill led the team in this matter.
