Wiley Rein & Fielding LLP Elects Eight New Partners
Washington, DC—The national law firm of Wiley Rein & Fielding has elected eight new partners effective January 1, 2002, marking the largest addition of new partners in many years. The new partnerships are illustrative of the firm’s recent growth.
Managing partner Richard E. Wiley praised the new partners saying, "This group of talented attorneys has demonstrated their dedication to the firm. The knowledge and abilities they bring to their practice areas have served our clients well. Such talent and hard work deserves reward. I am grateful to have them as members of our team."
Joining the partnership are Timothy C. Brightbill, Dorann Bunkin, Jason P. Cronic, Brook A. Edinger, Meredith Fuchs, Christopher Kelly, David J. Kulik, and Leslie A. Platt.
The following are attorneys elevated from Associate to Partner:
Timothy C. Brightbill practices in the International Trade and Internet & E-commerce Groups and has particular experience in trade remedies and policy, export controls, and international e-commerce issues. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association Section of International Law and Practice, International Trade Committee. Mr. Brightbill graduated with honors from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
Dorann Bunkin serves in the Communications and Internet & E-commerce Practices advising clients on FCC regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and Internet law issues involving broadcasters. She graduated magna cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles and received her J.D. from Yale Law School, after which she worked as an attorney in the Mass Media Bureau of the FCC. Ms. Bunkin serves as Chair of the ABA Section of Science and Technology Law, Mass Media Communications Committee.
Jason P. Cronic works in the firm’s Insurance, Litigation and Election Law Groups. His litigation expertise emphasizes directors and officers liability, general liability, property insurance, and significant constitutional claims. He graduated cum laude, from Tulane University. He received his J.D. from the University of Chicago, where he received the Mulroy Prize for Appellate Advocacy.
Brook A. Edinger advises clients in the Business & Finance Practice. He specializes in transactional, general corporate and bankruptcy/creditors’ rights matters, and has extensive experience in complex acquisition, disposition, merger and financing transactions for broadcast and other communications companies. Mr. Edinger graduated with highest honors from the College of William & Mary where he also received his J.D. at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
Meredith Fuchs practices in the Litigation, Internet & E-Commerce and Privacy Groups litigating and counseling in the areas of privacy, Internet and technology liability, and insurance coverage. She graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science and received her J.D., cum laude, from New York University Law School.
Leslie A. Platt is engaged in the Insurance and Litigation Practices representing clients in complex property, directors and officers liability, and general liability insurance coverage matters. Ms. Platt serves as counsel to the Insurers’ Technology Litigation Roundtable. She earned her B.A., cum laude, from Albion College and received her J.D. from the College of William & Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
The following Attorneys have been elevated from Of Counsel to Partner:
Christopher Kelly practices Intellectual Property law specializing in all aspects of trademark law, including trademark clearance, acquisition and management, domain name and unfair competition law and related litigation and licensing issues. Mr. Kelly earned his B.A. from The University of Delaware and his J.D. from The Delaware Law School.
David J. Kulik serves in the Intellectual Property Practice and newly created Life Sciences Practice. Mr. Kulik focuses his practice on strategic intellectual property counseling, litigation and patent law. He has experience in developing worldwide patent strategies and all aspects of patent litigation and procurement, trademark litigation and procurement, as well as trade secret, licensing, and technology collaborations. Mr. Kulik received his B.A. from the University of California at San Diego and his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
