Jan Baran and Caleb Burns to Speak at NABPAC Management Conference in DC
Washington, DC — Jan Baran, co-chair of Wiley Rein’s Election Law & Government Ethics Practice, and Caleb P. Burns, partner in the Practice, will speak at today’s National Association of Business Political Action Committees (NABPAC) 2017 PAC Management Conference and 40th Anniversary Celebration. The biennial, one-day conference will be held at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center. The conference begins with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. and concludes with a networking reception from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The program will kick off with a welcome and presentation of the 2017 award for The George Washington University’s (GWU) Jan Baran/NABPAC Scholarship for PAC studies. This year, the scholarship will be awarded to Mary Beth Spencer, manager of Government Affairs at the Health Industry Distributors Association. The annual scholarship provides a $5,000 fund for a student who is working, or intends to work, in the field of PACs or campaign fundraising, and who is also enrolled in GWU’s PACs and Political Management graduate certificate program.
The conference will include a comprehensive and talented group of speakers and facilitators from the PAC and political affairs communities. This year’s program includes more group breakout sessions where best practices and innovative new ideas can be discussed with colleagues and peers. Mr. Baran will speak on the panel, “Building Your PAC Infrastructure: Ground Up & Top Down Ideas,” as part of the Corporation Track Topics session. Mr. Burns will speak on the panel, “Prior Approval: Taming the Beast Once and for All,” as part of the Association Track Topics session. Both panels begin at noon.
