Laura El-Sabaawi Named an ABA ‘On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyer’

June 20, 2018

Washington, DC Laura El-Sabaawi, a partner in Wiley Rein’s International Trade Practice, has been named a 2018 “On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyer” by the American Bar Association (ABA) Young Lawyers Division.

Ms. El-Sabaawi was selected for the prestigious award based on her exceptional reputation and successes on behalf of clients, as well as her service to the community. The annual award recognizes young ABA members “who exemplify a broad range of high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community service.”

Ms. El-Sabaawi represents clients on a variety of international trade matters and has been instrumental in winning vitally important remedies for U.S. industries harmed by unfairly traded products. She represents numerous domestic industries – including steel and related steel products, solar cells, hardwood plywood, and aluminum extrusions – in trade litigation and trade policy matters, including AD/CVD investigations, export controls, and FCPA compliance programs. Notably, she assists clients in navigating new and innovative trade proceedings, such as a recent Section 201 investigation on solar products, a Section 232 investigation on steel products, and a Section 301 investigation on Chinese unfair trade practices.

Ms. El-Sabaawi enjoys serving as a mentor to junior lawyers, including through her service as co-chair of both the Wiley Rein Women’s Forum and Minority Lawyers affinity groups and as an active participant in the NALP/Street Law Legal Diversity Pipeline Program.
