Megan Brown to Speak at SXSW March 9 on Consumer Privacy Panel
Washington, DC — Megan L. Brown, partner in Wiley Rein’s Privacy & Cybersecurity and Telecom, Media & Technology practices, will be a featured speaker at the 2019 South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference, as part of the panel titled “Exploring Frameworks to Advance Consumer Privacy.”
The March 9 discussion in Austin, Texas, will review the types of collected data that are targeted by malign actors, as well as the fallout and lessons learned from past breaches that compromised the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of data. Panelists will also assess new frameworks for consumer privacy.
Ms. Brown will be joined on the panel by U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (D-IL), Megan Stifel, nonresident senior fellow at Public Knowledge, and Kristina Wilcox, executive director of the Women’s High-Tech Coalition. The annual SXSW Conference provides a forum for global professionals to explore new advancements in entertainment, culture, and technology.
Ms. Brown represents corporations in complex regulatory, litigation, and compliance matters involving technological innovation and regulation, with a focus on cybersecurity and privacy. She is a board member of the Women’s High-Tech Coalition and serves as Program Director of the Cybersecurity Law & Policy Program for the National Security Institute (NSI) at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School. She is also a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Cybersecurity Leadership Council, and is co-author of a pivotal U.S. Chamber report on Internet of Things (IoT) security.
