November 4, 2024

Washington, DC – Wiley is pleased to announce that esteemed litigators Stacey K. Sutton and Amanda R. Jesteadt have joined the firm as partners in the Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) Practice. Sutton and Jesteadt, who join with TMT Specialist Sue Ann Foster, bring decades of litigation, arbitration, and counseling experience, assisting clients in the telecommunications and technology industries to combat fraud that threatens reputation, relationships, and resources.

“Stacey and Mandy bring exceptional skill and nuanced understanding of the critical issues that have long been at the core of our TMT Practice,” said Wiley Managing Partner Peter D. Shields. “With our firm’s deep roots in Washington and decades of leadership in TMT law, their expertise in high-stakes litigation and fraud defense aligns with our commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for our clients. I am thrilled to welcome them to the firm.”

Sutton and Jesteadt have extensive experience addressing the rising threats of imposter and SIM swap fraud, as well as handset trafficking – a scheme targeting telecommunications companies and their customers through the illicit acquisition and unlawful resale of high-demand devices. Their commitment to combating these pervasive risks underscores Wiley’s proactive approach to defending clients and protecting their reputations in an evolving threat landscape.

Wiley TMT Practice co-chair Kathleen A. Kirby added, “Wiley’s legacy and strong relationships in Washington provide us a unique vantage point in navigating complex TMT issues. Stacey’s and Mandy’s expertise enhances our ability to address client challenges holistically and allows us to continue to set the benchmark for safeguarding reputations in this dynamic sector.”

With a robust team of over 60 attorneys, public policy advisors, and engineers, Wiley’s TMT Practice stands at the forefront of telecom, media, and technology law. The team combines legal acumen, business insights, and government knowledge and experience to address a wide range of client needs, from spectrum allocation and compliance to emerging technologies such as blockchain and the Internet of Things.

Sutton commented, “Mandy and I are excited to join Wiley’s renowned TMT Practice and work alongside such a talented team across cybersecurity, international trade, public policy, regulatory, and white collar. The firm’s collaborative culture and depth across these areas create the ideal synergy to take our work to the next level, tackling the complex challenges clients face in this rapidly evolving industry.”
