January 5, 2023

Washington, DC – Wiley Rein LLP, a preeminent DC law firm, is pleased to announce that partner Timothy C. Brightbill has been named co-chair of the International Trade Practice alongside Alan H. Price, effective January 1, 2023.

“Tim is an exemplary leader within the firm and throughout the international trade bar, and I am pleased that he will join Alan as co-chair of our International Trade Practice,” said Managing Partner Peter D. Shields. “I look forward to their joint leadership of this prominent team, which has been an indispensable advocate for U.S. industries and has changed the U.S. government’s approach to international trade.”

Since joining Wiley more than 25 years ago, Brightbill has been at the forefront of international trade law and policy, working with numerous industries and individual companies to navigate the complexities of the modern global market. He represents clients on import trade remedies such as antidumping and countervailing duty law, global trade policy and trade negotiations, renewable energy and climate change policy, digital trade, international telecommunications, and Customs enforcement matters. He has led major cases in the steel, renewable energy, and wood products industries, with his cases affecting billions of dollars in U.S. business and imports.

“As a key member of our International Trade Practice, Tim has consistently secured great victories for clients, helping U.S. industries expand their trade opportunities by leveling the global playing field,” Price said. “Tim has the strategic vision to help Wiley and our clients meet the demands of an ever-changing world, and I couldn’t be happier that he is joining me as co-chair of this outstanding team.”

Brightbill is a well-known leader in the international trade community. He recently served as Chairman of the Committee to Support U.S. Trade Laws, and currently chairs the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Services and Finance Industries (ITAC 10), which advises the U.S. government on trade agreements. He has also taught at Georgetown University Law Center for 20 years as an Adjunct Professor of International Trade Law and Regulation.

“I am honored to co-chair this great team with Alan, who has been a mentor to so many of us at Wiley in building one of the largest and most diverse international trade practices in the country,” Brightbill said. “Under Alan’s leadership, Wiley has transformed trade on the global stage, and I look forward to working with him to further expand the practice to meet our clients’ needs at this critical time in history.”

With over 30 attorneys, Wiley’s International Trade Practice is one of the largest and most wide-ranging in the United States. By leveraging its deep legal skill, knowledge, Washington and global policy expertise, and strong government relationships, the team helps drive national and global business strategies and seeks practical solutions to complex regulatory problems.
