Wiley Rein Managing Partner Peter D. Shields Elected to Third Consecutive Term

Washington, DC — Wiley Rein LLP is pleased to announce that Peter D. Shields has been re-elected Managing Partner of the firm for a third consecutive three-year term, effective January 1, 2018. In this role, Mr. Shields leads the firm’s efforts to provide exceptional, effective, and value-based legal services. The firm also announced that Dorthula (Dot) H. Powell-Woodson and Daniel J. Standish, whose terms had expired, were re-elected to the Executive Committee. In addition, Christopher Kelly was re-elected to the firm’s Management Committee, and Claire J. Evans was elected to the Management Committee for the first time.

As Managing Partner, Mr. Shields oversees the management of the firm and develops and implements the firm’s long-term strategy, focusing on client service, value billing, operational efficiencies, diversity, pro bono initiatives, and tactical growth. Mr. Shields also is active in leadership roles in the Washington, DC legal and civic communities, serving as chairman of the Board of Directors for N Street Village, as well as serving on the Board of Trustees for the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia and on the Board of Washington Performing Arts. In addition to his management role at Wiley Rein, Mr. Shields is a member of the Executive Committee for the firm’s strategic communications and lobbying subsidiary, Signal Group. 

Mr. Shields was recently named one of Washington, DC’s top C-Suite business leaders for 2017 by the Washington Business Journal, and was the only law firm executive to receive this recognition.
