September 3, 2024

Washington, DC – Wiley Rein LLP is pleased to announce that Sarah E. Amick, a noted environmental lawyer with more than 15 years of regulatory, public policy, and trade association experience, has joined the firm as special counsel in the Environment & Product Regulation Group.

Amick’s arrival builds on the team’s capabilities in Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) compliance, PFAS reporting requirements, and other emerging regulatory and enforcement issues related to the production and use of chemicals, risk evaluation and management, and sustainability.

“Sarah’s experience representing multinational corporations in complex environmental matters aligns extremely well with our practice group’s work in a range of industries, including lithium batteries, metals, and automotive,” said Environment & Product Regulation Practice chair Tracy Heinzman. “We are happy to welcome her to Wiley, where her practice further expands the strategic growth of our team.”

Amick most recently served as Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Counsel at Alcoa Corporation, where she had an instrumental role in building an ESG regulatory compliance framework and advised international teams advancing the company’s sustainability objectives.

She previously served as Senior Vice President and Senior Counsel at the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA), where she led legal, policy, and technical affairs for the domestic tire manufacturing industry. While there, she advised on environmental and sustainability global, federal, and state policy and litigation matters, including extended producer responsibility laws, the regulation of microplastics, and California’s review of 6PPD, a chemical used in tires and other rubber products under the Safer Consumer Products Regulations.

“Sarah is highly respected throughout Washington’s legal, regulatory, and environmental community,” said Martha E. Marrapese, a key partner in Wiley’s TSCA Practice. “Her experience in navigating complex environmental matters is indispensable as an ever-widening array of companies and industries face new compliance obligations under TSCA.”

Amick earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, and her B.A. from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.

Wiley’s Environment & Product Regulation Practice handles high-level policy, regulatory, litigation, and enforcement matters for clients ranging from some of the largest publicly traded companies to private entities and trade associations engaged in all levels of the supply chain. The team includes lawyers, consultants, and regulatory analysts, and helps clients navigate cross-cutting regulatory issues involving some of the most powerful federal agencies in DC as well as state and local governments.
